Biography

Jordyn Angeconeb, a 31-year-old Anishinaabe drag artist, educator, and advocate from Lac Seul First Nation, was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. They have lived in Sioux Lookout, Wawa, Toronto, Ottawa, London (Ontario), and Burstall (Saskatchewan), experiences that have help them grow their work blending performance, culture, and community across Canada. As Bébé Lala, Jordyn delivers humorous, story-driven drag shows at events like Pride Toronto’s Catalyst Stage (2024), Edmonton Dragfest (2023), and OUTLOUD Festival (2022), performing in urban centers and First Nations communities from the Prairies to Northern Ontario.

Prior to university, Jordyn took a 1-year Rotary Youth Exchange to Taichung, Taiwan, where they were able to see the world in a different view. Jordyn attended Brock University for one (1) year of Political Science, before transferring to Wilfrid Laurier University for three (3) years of their B.A Criminology & Policing with a Certification on the United Nations Office on Drugs & Crime, and one (1) year of Business Administration. Jordyn has continued to work towards there degree despite extreme hardships they have overcame through connecting with their culture and finding passion in helper others. As a healer, Jordyn fights to protect the rights of everyone, create safe spaces, and educate others on the importance of inclusion.

Jordyn has held various management roles in the hospitality industry, retail industry, supervisory & analyst roles with the federal government, as well as human resources and working as the Director of Youth Services and Community Recreation for Lac Seul First Nation.

A Two-Spirit and 2SLGBTQQIA+ leader, Jordyn has organized events such as Ever Sick! Drag on the Rez (2022), Prairie Girls at The Yard (2023), Slay in May Youth Gathering (2024) and 2Spirit Awareness Week (2024 & 2025), Ever Sick! Drag in the 6ix (2024), serves as a ambassador and speaker (e.g., Pride Toronto Two-Spirit Ambassador, 2024; Transgender Day of Remembrance, 2025), and facilitates workshops on identity and inclusion. Through Ever Sick! Consulting, they offer grant writing, project management, reporting assistance, policy drafting, and drag creation labs emphasizing theatre and self-expression, fostering safer spaces for Indigenous queer and trans youth while advancing cultural safety and gender-affirming care in Treaty #3 and beyond.
